gerard sexton wrote 2 months ago perfect timing i mean being in the right place at the right time. congratulations of capturing such a timeless piece. Tommy Strommen wrote 2 months ago I've seen this over at epz, it's the kind of image that will be stuck in my mind forever... Steve Charles wrote 3 months ago So glad to see this here, it's encouraging to see it get in, because it's not technically perfect, but content is king. The sort of scene a street photographer could go their whole life hoping to come across. Edmund Fitzpatrick replied 2 months ago 'Not technically perfect': actually the more I look at it the more of a mess it seems, but you can't have too much luck in one day, and seeing the two having their lunch was enough for me. Bob Patefield wrote 3 months ago Can't a superhero get a bite to eat without someone sticking a camera in their faces? ;^) Great capture Edmund. Edmund Fitzpatrick replied 3 months ago All I can say, Bob, is that at 50 years of age, I am glad I was on the outside: my 'leg it' skills are not what they used to be. Thanks for the comment, BTW. Codrin Lupei wrote 3 months ago Excellent one, Edmund, love these expressions you've captured here, a favorite from screening! Great work, love it! all the best Codrin Philip LePage wrote 3 months ago Now this is street photography. A fabulous image. The strangeness of the costumes, the expressions on their faces, the immediacy of the image. Impact. Very well seen! Cheers! Edmund Fitzpatrick replied 3 months ago Thanks Philip. A comment like this from somebody with a portfolio like your is gratefully received. HenriAntoine wrote 3 months ago it has a strong cinematic feel, which goes so well with the subject. There's a hidden perfect balance in this. And the tones are to die for, which is something that is generally true of your film B&Ws. Edmund Fitzpatrick replied 3 months ago Bert. Thank you very much. Your comments are appreciated (as was the encouragement to show this picture on OE). Tom Hoops wrote 3 months ago This got my vote in screening, it fully deserves to be published, fantastic shot. Edmund Fitzpatrick replied 3 months ago Tom, thanks. I did think this was going to get the chop in screening, so thanks for the support. Tom Hoops replied 3 months ago Edmund, two of us were discussing the merits of this photo over dinner. It's that good. Edmund Fitzpatrick replied 3 months ago Wow - thanks Tom. I was standing outside a McDonalds when I saw those two guys. Luckily, there was a small group of people between me and them, so they won't have seen me until I was pointing the camera at them, which accounts for Batman's reaction, I guess. But Superman, now he's a much cooler customer. I was very pleased with the image, including the framing but, as Koen says, there are so many things that could count against this shot that I wasn't sure whether many people would be that taken with it. Anyway, it got through screening and people have been very nice about it, so I'm happy. Koen Pieters wrote 3 months ago Great to see this one published Edmund. I was just so afraid people wouldn't see its magic in screening. For me it's one of my all time favourite street shots. Apart from the content, which I just find so appealing, visually everything also comes together so well. those lights in the left upper corner, those stickers running through the image. That big strip at the bottom. There's just so much that could have ruined the shot, should have ruined it, yet none of it does. Perfect 10 from me. |
